These illustrations come to us from Stephanie Luo, a second-generation Australian-born Chinese artist, based in Melbourne.
Artist’s statement:
There’s a term to describe Australian-born Chinese children in Mandarin: Xiang Jiao (banana). What is yellow on the outside is white on the inside. My artwork is about multiple layers of skin, wrapped around the culturally-crossed wires at the core of children born into a different culture.
